Yarn bombing with love

Welcome to the Purl Queens Blog

We are knitters, crocheters and creatives from around the world who love to brighten up the world one stitch at a time. We are staging a beautiful outdoor installation as part of Folkestone's Triennial Fringe Festival running from June to September in Folkestone, Kent. The yarn bombing will take place in Rendezvous St. Please take some time to see the wonderful things created for this community project.

Yarn bombers unite

It’s almost time to unleash the wonderful creations that have been handknitted, crocheted and machine knitted. ┬áSo many lovely things, flowers, leaves, seaweed, crabs, fish, coral, octupii, martello towers, the Invicta Horse on the Hill. ┬áTotally beautiful and amazing creations from as far afield as France.

Some wonderful ladies part of the BlueCoat Gallery in Liverpool have taken part, Bodsham School in Kent have been teaching parents and children how to crochet to take part in the installation.

There are two themes to the yarn bombing installation:

Sea Change – above MODA this is to represent everything that makes our town special and to reflect on the beauty around us.

Flower Power – Every Flower, Stem and Leaf symbolises someone affected by domestic abuse in our communites.

We have many messages of support from around the world and we hope that many people will come and see the beautiful hand crafted creations that will be proudly displayed on the walls of the two buildings in Rendezvous St, Folkestone.
